Slay Girlboss (Deposition)

As Girlboss, I lay stiffly in my fairytale casket for 2.5 hours, gatekept by my emotionless assistants, slowly buried in prop/real cash. The performance raised just over $100 to be donated to @capital_tea_tallahassee, a local organization that helps unhoused trans youth. ‘Slay Girlboss (Deposition)’, 2022-2023. Participatory durational performance using found and constructed media. This work is meant to reflect the rise and fall of the neoliberal term ‘girl boss’ and question the intersections of white cis feminism and capitalism as a form of empowerment.
